Are you already working in the health-care field? Have you done at least 50 venipunctures, and at least 10 skin punctures while working with real patients (not practicing or being trained in a program of any kind) in the last 5 years? Have you always wanted to become certified as a phlebotomy technician? If the answer is YES, then the NPCE phlebotomy certification is your solution.
Now more than ever, employers such as hospitals, doctor’s offices, out-patient labs and nursing homes require medical health-care workers to perform blood draws. To become NPCE certified you must have a clean background check, because you’ll be working with sensitive medical data. If you’re not caught up on your vaccinations and booster shots, you must get the required shots as well as a tuberculosis test before becoming NPCE certified.
NPCE recognizes the need for accelerated training for those already in the medical profession and who may be skilled in the art of drawing blood but lack certification. Physicians, nurses, RN’s, LPN’s, LVN’s and Medical Technologists sometimes require extra training with regard to their phlebotomy skills.
NPCE Phlebotomy Technician Certification test is designed to validate candidate competence, not only for the employers that hire them but also to improve the industry standards. Individuals who pass the certification exam will be recognized as NPCE Nationally Certified Phlebotomist. With certification, you will earn credentials to use with your name, a certification pocket card and a certificate.
While some certifying agencies might offer lifetime certification to applicants who pass a single exam, NPCE does not. Certificate holders are required to complete a minimum of 6 clock hours of approved continuing education annually to update their knowledge and maintain active status. Recertification is the final link in the chain of processes that brings credibility to our credentials.
